Open Category 3rd-6th Grade

The educational program Open Category 3rd-6th Grade is dedicated to the preparation of the teams for their participation in the Panhellenic competition of STEM Education in the Open Category 3rd-6th Elementary. Children create their first Automations and their first Physical Computing applications!

 

From managing construction motion using the switch, to managing motion with Sensors and Programming, kids work together to solve a real-world problem. In addition, they develop their creations and learn to present their results in 3D models!

Human sensory organs are replaced by electronic sensors, action takes place using electric motors and children program processors for the first time. They collect information from the environment, through measurements of temperature, brightness, sound volume, etc.

In all of the above, the construction part is not missing, since the Automations are harmoniously integrated with the children’s constructions. The absolute harmony of Planning and implementation of construction to work perfectly and solve problems in people’s lives.

Children discover the world of measurements using sensors such as temperature, light, tilt and sound in combination with MicrobiT and the exciting journey to Automation continues!

Objectives of the program

Upon completion of the program, students will have:

  • Created the first automations and physical computing applications
  • Carried out measurements of physical quantities using a microcontroller and sensors,
  • Plotted their measurements in a Cartesian coordinate system for data analysis
  • Built working models to solve real-world challenges
  • Worked in groups to improve and present their creations
  • Created their own 3D model with which they can take part in the competition

Ενότητα 1η: Εισαγωγή στα ρομπότ & τις ρομποτικές κατασκευές, απλές μηχανές και μηχανισμοί

Ενότητα 2η: Εξοικείωση με το προγραμματιστικό περιβάλλον του Scratch, κίνηση κατασκευών μέσω κινητήρα και τηλεχειρισμός τους

Ενότητα 3η: Εισαγωγή στους αισθητήρες και στον αυτοματισμό, επιλογή τηλεχειρισμού ή αυτονομίας ρομποτικών κατασκευών

Ενότητα 4η: Εξοικείωση στη χρήση απλών αλγόριθμων στον προγραμματισμό της αυτονομίας των ρομποτικών κατασκευών (αποφάσεις, επαναλήψεις, τελεστές, μεταβλητές)

Ενότητα 5η: Εφαρμογή δεξιοτήτων στην κατασκευή «προχωρημένων» ρομποτικών κατασκευών
