In this tutorial get to know and program the “smart” bee, Beebot. It is one of the most popular programming games, based on the programming principles of the Logo language.
With Beebot, support your students in the early stages of programming and algorithmic thinking. Using it is simple and fun. At the same time, it strengthens children’s spatial skills. Combined with improvised or ready-made tracks, it is the versatile tool to teach creatively. Get inspired and create: shapes, colors, orientation, maps, planets!
Upon completion of the program, the trainees will have:
1. become familiar with the use and programming of Beebot and will have learned its educational value for the development of geospatial and pre-math skills,
2. known of the role of Natural Sciences in STEM education,
3. become familiar with the objectives of the New Comprehensive Curriculum of 2021 regarding Natural Sciences and STEM education in Preschool Age,
4. made use of different themed tracks that can be used to teach concepts, such as traffic management, the water cycle, etc.,
5. carried out experiments that they can use in their class,
6. covered the topics: solar system, healthy diet, water cycle, animals/life cycles, colors/mixing, geography/map of Greece, electricity, personal hygiene,
7. acquired a range of ready-to-use cross-curricular activities and be able to develop their own, tailored to the needs of their classroom.
