Newton’s steps

.

Have you ever considered how your phone’s or smart watch’s pedometer works?
This field trip investigates the accelerometer, a sensor that detects motion in any mobile device.
Students learn about the microbit and programming in MakeCode, as well as sensors and the advantages of activity, before designing and building their own pedometer.

Biology: energy, exercise Mathematics: addition, subtraction, comparison of quantities, limitation
Technology: Programming, board, sensor
IT: programming commands in a MakeCode environment, variables, algorithm, logical expressions
